Unauthorized access refers to gaining access to a system without having the proper permissions from the system’s owner. Once someone has gained unauthorized access, they may be able to view, copy, or delete data on the system. They may also be able to make changes to the system itself or add new accounts that allow other people to access the system.
Use refers to using data in an unauthorized way. This could involve accessing data that one is not supposed to have access to, viewing data that one is not supposed to view, or copying data without authorization.
Disclosure refers to making data available to people who are not authorized to see it. This could involve sending an email with confidential information in it to someone who is not supposed to have that information, posting confidential information on a public website, or leaving confidential information where it can be easily found by someone who is not authorized to have it.
Interception refers to intercepting communications between two parties who are authorized to communicate with each other. This could involve reading an email that was meant for someone else, listening in on a phone conversation, or capturing data being transmitted between two computers.
