Following are the different stages that are involved in the recycling process.
1. Sorting:
For the recycling process to be successful, the materials must be carefully sorted to ensure that the paper material does not contain any contaminants such as food scraps, plastics, metals, and many others … as it makes paper difficult to recycle. Paper with too much dirt, cannot be recycled.
2. Cellulose and sieving:
Recycled materials are put into large tanks filled with water and chemicals. Scrap paper cut into small pieces. The rapidly heated mixture cuts the old paper into many cellulose fibers.
3. Loops:
The pulp is cleaned in a conical tube by shaking, heavy contaminants such as metal clips, pins are deflected from the cap and hit the bottom of the tube.
4. Ink removal:
The pulp must go through a "wash" process to remove ink and tape (including glue and paste). Tiny particles of ink are removed from the water in a process called "flushing".
5. Finishing, decolorizing, and bleaching
During refining, the pulp is ground to swell the recycled fibers and separate the individual fibers to make paper production easier.
6. Papermaking
In this step we have a "pure slurry" ready to make a new product. Recycled fibers that have been successfully used alone or mixed with wood fibers (called primary fibers) for increased smoothness and durability.
